In the context of the 33rd Bellinzona Young Film Festival, I created a poster that aims to communicate the theme of cinema as a "dream factory." My goal was to represent cinema as a medium that can bring to life viewers' desires and transport them to another reality, combining magic and dreams.

Abstract

Editorial

The concept of "dream factory" is based on the fact that cinema has always tried to capture the essence of dreams and imagination. From George Méliès to the present day, cinema has the power to transport the audience to an ideal and real world at the same time. Djibril Diop Mambéty's quote, "Cinema is magic in the service of the dream," inspired the creation of the key words for my project: Cinema, magic and dream.

I wanted to create a poster that represented the atmosphere of dream and magic with a contemporary and fresh style. The use of "cut out" fonts on a dark background recalls the image of movie frames, creating a visual rhythm that captures the essence of cinematography. To add the magic/dream element, I used color and a pattern of curvy lines that give the image a malleable and mutable look, just like dreams.

To make the poster more engaging, I created an augmented reality animation. This innovative touch allows the poster to come to life, emphasizing the concept of movement and rhythm of the frames. The animation of the typography and internal pattern gives the poster a contemporary and innovative look, capturing the essence of cinema as an ever-evolving and transforming medium.
