The dark side of the happiest countries

Data Visualization

Capabilities

I have been working on a data visualization project that sheds light on a surprising fact: the supposed happiness of the world's happiest countries is actually correlated with high suicide rates. This project aims to dispel the myth that the happiest countries are immune to problems such as suicide. Cross-data analysis revealed a connection between the happiness index and suicide rates in several nations.

Abstract

Data Visualization

The data considered in this project are divided into two levels of reading. The first level includes information such as the name of the country, the continent it belongs to, the country's position on the world suicide scale, and the happiness index. The second reading level delves into the analysis of suicides, breaking down the data by age group and showing the rate.

detail of data visualization

I created two infographics based on the same data: the first, titled "The dark side of the happiest countries," displays happiness index data, highlighting the connection between happiness and suicide rates. The second infographic, titled "The bright side of the happiest countries," focuses on suicide rates. This project challenges common perceptions about happiness and provides an in-depth look at data on psychological well-being and the problem of suicide in different parts of the world.
